I have often categorized my work as “magical social realism,” images that strive toward a true essence of a person or experience through seemingly magical or mysterious elements. The paintings are meant to create worlds that are believable but odd and that utilize absurd or bizarre situations to poignantly express the complexity of self, relationships, memory, fear and time.
